Workshop and training event for conflict-affected families in Busogo sector

The Rwanda government has made a great effort to build up family policies by strengthening family relations under the Ministry of Gender and Family Promotion (MIGEPROF) and the Ministry of Local Government (MINALOC). The role of parents is critical in the teaching of children and the transmission of values that are vital to their development. This is a challenging duty to play, especially when faced with familial conflict challenges. Because education is not solely the responsibility of the father or mother, but must be shared by all three (the mother’s role being particularly important in the early stages), this education must be based on mutual understanding and trust between parents and children. However, the conflicts in the family could jeopardize the solidarity and security of the entire family, including the children.

The RCL organization has organized workshops and training for families living in conflicts at Busogo sector so that children can no longer face problems in their daily lives that depend on their parents’ conflicts. Since RCL members were unable to identify conflict-affected families, we worked with local authorities. Of the eight (8) families scheduled for training, seven (7) (male and female) families received training on how to improve their relationship at home.

After the workshops and training sessions, the RCL organization was excited to see the two families decide to stop their misunderstanding and reunite. The RCL members will continue to make a great effort to be in touch with these trained families in order to resolve the root causes of their familial conflicts as well as bring solidity and security to the children in their families.

  • How can we make amends for our errors?
  • In the family, what is the difference between complementarity and equality?
  • Where do you look for good family friends?
  • What is the penalty for someone who is relieved of their responsibilities?
